About Us

Sri Krishna Sevashram is a charitable trust founded by Smt. Vasantha Lakshminarayanan at Pillaipakkam, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu India, established in 1995 with the social objective of providing quality education and medical care to the villages around the area. She started the ashram in a small way in a mud hut courageously in a field of open plots along with her aged mother Smt.Saraswathy Ammal... (who came to live with her) & with the help of some of her very close friends & others, she developed the place. Nearby land owned by other members of the family was either donated or bought and now Sri Krishna Sevashram stands at almost 1 acre of land housing a nursery & primary school, a medical centre, a vocational training centre, two temples, a meditation hall and living quarters. Smt. Vasantha had a spiritual & “service to humans” attitude since her childhood & has the privilege of being personally blessed by great gurus like The Kanchi seer Shri Chandrasekhara Saraswati, Philosopher & spiritual Guru Shri Aurobindo & later in her adult life by Shri Anna Subrahmanyam & Mother Theresa. She always found time to work for the betterment of the underprivileged without disturbing her domestic duties & when she was free of those duties, she chose to shift to Sriperumbudur to dedicate her life full time to social service. Unfortunately, a brain stem stroke in the year 2005, paralysed her body totally & made her bed and wheelchair bound. But with her constant mentoring & encouragement, we (her children & some close friends) are working hard towards reviving all the activities. It is a continuing process & we are at it.

As of Today

Ashram spreads in an area of around 40,000 square feet and supports local community by providing temple, meditation center, primary health care unit, community kitchen, school for kids and vocational training center.
